Falling in Purgatory
They’re hiding in a tree when Dean starts freaking out. He’s never been scared to die before, never been scared of monsters. But these aren’t just monsters. These are the souls of monsters, cursed to kill each other forever. Fight until the last one is standing.
Castiel is holding his trench coat close to him, looking at Dean from beneath his eyelashes.
“I miss my car,” Dean mutters, “I miss Sam.”
“I’m sorry,” Castiel says softly, sounding like his old self a bit.
“Well, at least I got you,” Dean sighs, leaning back against the tree, “Just a couple of cursed people hiding in a tree in Purgatory.”
Castiel gives a small laugh.
“Think we’ll ever get out?” Dean asks.
“I don’t see how,” Castiel shrugs, “Unless someone opens the gate, but you said that would be bad.”
“How long are we going to survive?”
“Who knows?” Castiel sighs, “I don’t think very long.”
Dean sighs again, weighing his options. If this is, honest and truly, his last moments with Cas, he should make the most of it.
“I…” Dean starts.
“There are no bees here either,” Castiel gives a small sad face.
“Way to ruin the mood here,” Dean laughs, “God Cas.”
Castiel turns to Dean, his head turned to the side a bit. Dean can’t help it. This could be his last moment to show Castiel what he’s been feeling inside for ages, to show him what’s been hiding inside.
So he pulls Castiel’s face towards his and presses their lips tight together, rubbing his fingers at the base of his skull.
“I was going to tell you about the beauty of ants,” Castiel says softly, “How they work together, similar to bees, but in the ground.”
“I’d rather kiss you,” Dean laughs.
“I suppose I can accept that.”
